About drive5.com

Robert C. Edgar's personal web site
This is where I post information about my software and research.

Why "drive5"?
In 1999, I sold my software company and wasn't sure what I was going to do next, maybe I would start another company. For sure I had no idea that I would start doing science. I wanted a domain name I could use for a web site that could transition to a business if needed, and after some searching I found that all the good domain names were taken, but drive5.com was available. It sounded generically technical, and it had personal reasonance because I had spent a lot of time driving around California on Interstate 5.

An unemployed gentleman scholar
Here is a blog post from 2010 which explains how I stumbled into computational biology after selling the company.
